The UQ Rugby Indigenous Jersey was worn by our 1st Grade team during our Indigenous and Heritage Round. Designed by Emma MacNeill – a proud Yamatji Martu woman, born and raised in the heart of the Kimberley.
The boomerang on the shirt represents the menʼs team and the digging sticks represent the womenʼs. The shield on the back represents protection, how we protect each other in games and loyally wear the jersey with pride. The blue hands represent our support and the connected red circles in the background acknowledge that we are all from different places, travelling and meeting together to play the game we love.
We thank Emma for all of her time and effort in creating this amazing design.
