After a bit of a worrying start with only 8 players making it to Toowoomba on the day the girls persevered winning their first and second games consecutively; beating the home team Aubigny Barbarians 22-0 and Brothers 12-5.
Unfortunately the heat of the day set in and USQ snuck in a win beating UQ 22-5.
After a bye round the girls were made aware that to make the finals it may come down to point difference between Brothers, USQ and themselves.
Setting out to put big points on the board against Brisbane Irish, coincidentally the feeder team to UQ they won the game 32-0 giving a good lead over Brothers and pushing them out of the finals spot.
After a 2 hour wait, some food and lots of hydration the girls went out to defeat USQ in their second meeting 22-0, bringing home the win and their first engravement on the Aubigny 7’s trophy for 2021.
A great start to the season ahead of the trial games beginning on 13th March against GPS.
