Saturday saw the Red Heavies stage our annual Charity Round for the clash with Sunnybank in Round 17 of Queensland Premier Rugby.
This year’s designated charity was the Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association.
UQ Rugby is particularly honoured to have a Wheelchair Rugby team for the first time this year, which competed in, and won the inaugural National League this year.
A couple of our wheelchair players – Conor Tweedy and Damian Mortaud – were in attendance on Saturday, along with their National League trophy.
This Charity Round will be proudly sponsored by UQ Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL).
We thank Andrew Giffiths (Executive Dean of UQ BEL Faculty) and the UQ BEL Faculty for their continued support of UQ Rugby Club.
Our 1st Grade and Women’s teams wore specially struck Charity Round jerseys for their games, which bore the Sporting Wheelies logo across the shoulders and back.
Each jersey also displayed the logo of an individual sponsor – We thank all of these sponsors for their support of this round.
